Calvin Presbyterian Church of Linden, New
Jersey, is a mission-oriented church. We strongly believe
that Christ clearly demonstrated in his teachings and healings
how important it is to be concerned with the human condition
of his people. The mission of Calvin Presbyterian church is
to minister to all of God’s children. We participate
in the activities of the Linden Interfaith Council such as
the annual Crop Walk, the local food bank, and special ecumenical
services. We support the General Assembly General Mission,
the Synod of the Northeast, and the Presbytery of Elizabeth.
We also support the mission work of the Medical Benevolence
Foundation, One Great Hour of Sharing, the Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance Fund, The Bowery Mission, The Kikuyu Hospital in
Kenya,. Africa. We contribute to the support of a missonary
working with children in Tajikistan.

Calvin Presbyterian Church has its origin
in the Slovak community, which came to this country in the
early 1920’s, evolving at its present location in 1934
as a Slovak congregation called the Calvinistic Presbyterian
Chapel. In 1967 the church was organized and established under
the name of Calvin Presbyterian Church and became part of
the Elizabeth Presbytery. Soon after the arrival of our present
day minister, Reverend David J. Krotchko, the church started
offering English as well as Slovak services.
We have often been told that we are a very friendly congregation,
and most people feel “at home” when they come
to worship with us. Our church is very family-oriented, and
children are very important to us; during our worship service,
the pastor has a special message just for them. Our little
ones and youth look upon the congregation as their extended
family.
