Recently installed and ordained on October 17, 2010, Pastor Ryan comes to Calvin
Presbyterian Church from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he graduated with
two degrees, Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education. Thanks
to the loving community of the large First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem, PA,
Ryan can say he was taken in by the PCUSA church at a young age and shown the
value of a warm and welcoming ministry. Though most of his family of six siblings
participated minimally in the life of the church, the Holy Spirit set him on a specific
path for ministry. During his time at seminary, he served the Taiwanese-American
Fellowship Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick, where he was offered his first
real taste of small church and multi-cultural ministry. Serving as a hospital chaplain
assigned to the psychiatric unit in Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ also
fostered his appreciation for Christian responsibility in the church and the world.
One of his greatest experiences in seminary was a three-week pilgrimage to Israel
where he got to engage in ecumenical dialogue with Jews, Muslims, and Christians
in the Holy Land, as well as with humanitarian and human rights organizations
serving in Palestine and Israel.

Prior to seminary, Ryan graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania
with a Bachelor degree in (Human) Communication Studies, where he first met his
wife, Danielle. There he was the Student Associate Director of the Honors Program
for two years, developing leadership and dialogue programs for other students. Ryan
and Danielle were married in Princeton in October 2008, at which time the
Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series of baseball. Danielle is a child and
adolescent therapist. They have two energetic dogs, Cookie (pictured left) and
Leena. Ryan is an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoys Sabbath and downtime (when
he can get it), and loves trying to connect with God in new and refreshing ways.
