The purpose of Presbyterian Women is “Forgiven
and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy
Spirit, we commit ourselves to: nurture our faith through
prayer and Bible study, support the mission of the church
worldwide, work for justice and peace, and build an inclusive,
caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian
Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.”
We at Calvin Presbyterian Church are part
of an active and vital organization within this church and
on the Presbytery level. Presbyterian Women takes the lead
involving the rest of our congregation in local, national,
and worldwide mission projects. We:
• Assemble Gift of the Heart Kits and new baby blankets
for Church World Service
• Collect, sort, and pack used clothing for local
families, St. Joseph’s Shelter, Bowery Mission, Haiti,
Salvation Army, and Goodwill Industries
• Collect Food for Thanksgiving Baskets which are
distributed to local families
• Collect paper goods for the LINCS food pantry
• Provide Refreshments for the Christmas music program
at Norwood Terrace Health Center
• Prepared dinners for family and friends following
funerals in our church
• Participate in and attend Presbytery level gatherings
during the Spring and Fall
• Sponsor activities and sandwich suppers for our
congregation during the Advent Season
• Participate in World Day of Prayer service held
each year in local community churches
• Plan and lead Gifts of Women Worship Service each
year
